Description

WHEN COMEDY WENT TO SCHOOL

Saturday November 2 @ 7:30 PM

This remarkable documentary presents an entertaining portrait of this country's greatest generation of comedians - the generation that includes the likes of Jerry Lewis, Sid Caesar, Robert Klein, Jackie Mason, Mort Sahl, Jerry Stiller, Larry King, and others, all of whom make appearances in the film, telling jokes and telling their stories.

It all began in upstate New York's Catskill Mountains, aka the Borscht Belt where the Catskill hotels and bungalow colonies provided the setting for a remarkable group of young Jewish-American comedians to hone their craft and become worldwide legends. It was truly When Comedy Went to School.

So you think you're funny too? Then step right up to the Palace microphone prior to the screening. We're searching for Danbury's funniest people and welcome the audience to show us their stand-up skills. The best joke teller will be crowned The Palace's King or Queen Of comedy!
