Welcome

Did you know that for the second consecutive year Danbury has been ranked the safest city in Connecticut? Located at 165 Main Street, The Palace Theatre is in the heart of City Center. Built in 1928 as a 1999-seat venue, Jimmy Durante performed at The Palace, as did Chuck Berry, Louis Armstrong and many others.

Our mission at is to serve, enliven and enrich the community through the performing and visual arts in all disciplines. The 2010 calendar includes play and dance performances, comedy shows, spoken word poetry, live music, movies, special events and more. We look forward to creating a new history here at The Palace and we invite you to to be a part of it!

By providing a place wherein the arts in all disciplines thrive, our goal is to engage you in experiences that enrich you life. The arts celebrate all aspects of our lives. Qualitative rather than quantitative, they enlighten and broaden our horizons. They inform our perspective, cultivate personal expression and expand our capacity for empathy and compassion. In short, they teach us about life.

We are bringing the arts back to Danbury, Fairfield County and beyond! And we take great pride in our role in the revitalization efforts of Main Street, and we invite you to enjoy and engage in the vibrant new life of The Palace Theatre!

Nowhere Boy - the movie

"Nowhere Boy"

(The new film about John's teenage years and the birth of the Beatles.)
(Seating for the film subject to availability.)

In 1956, a 15-year-old Liverpool schoolboy named John Lennon recruited five of his closest friends to join him in a skiffle and rock 'n' roll group called The Quarrymen.

On July 6th 1957, the group was performing at the annual garden party of the local village church St. Peter's. A friend of John Lennon attended the performance and brought with him another pal. He felt that his two friends should meet.  The friend he brought with him was a just-turned-15 lad named Paul McCartney.

John and Paul met. And made an immediate connection over their shared love of the new music coming from America - rock 'n' roll.  It was the Big Bang that eventually led to the Beatles.

"That was the day... the day that I met Paul that it started moving..."
-  John Lennon (1968)

"I had a group, I was the singer and the leader.  I met Paul and I made a decision whether to have him in the group: Was it better to have a guy who was better than the people I had in obviously?  Or not? To make the group stronger or let me be stronger? That decision was to let Paul in and make the group stronger."
-  John Lennon (1970)

Tickets available soon: $40.00 - $70.00
